That being said, getting rid of mold and mildew in your MA home is very important. Here are 6 natural ways to get rid of mold and mildew:

Hydrogen Peroxide

Mix a little hydrogen peroxide with water in a spray bottle. Spray  mixture on mold or mildew growth and let it sit for an hour or two. After the time is up, you can simply wipe it away.

Vinegar is one of the best ways to remove mold and mildew. Put some vinegar in a spray bottle to make the application easier, spray it directly on top of the infestation and let it sit for a few hours. Vinegar has a really strong smell and since it needs to sit for a long time, you can add some essential oil to the spray bottle. Lemon essential oil is the recommended oil to add as it has a similar acidity and is mild enough not to cause respiratory problems.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is a home product that has many different uses, one of them being to clean mold and mildew. Baking soda works better against mold and mildew when mixed with vinegar, hitting the infestation with a double whammy.

Ammonia is an excellent agent to use against mold and mildew, but it can be very volatile. Do not mix ammonia with any other cleaning agent. Put it in a spray bottle, spray and then scrub the mold and mildew. After scrubbing, let it sit for a few hours before wiping it away and cleaning it up.

A lesser known cleaning product, Borax is a natural cleaner. It is normally used by homeowners as an insecticide, but it works great on mold and mildew as well. Apply the borax to a scrubbing brush and get to cleaning. Use inward strokes to help prevent the spread of mold spores. Once you’re done scrubbing, wipe away the Borax and let it dry.

Grapefruit Seeds

While an uncommon cleaner for mold and mildew, grapefruit seeds have proven to be as strong or stronger than vinegar. Put some water in a spray bottle, add about 20 drops of grapefruit extract, shake everything up to mix it, and spray it on the infestation. There is no need to wipe it off later like you would need to do with vinegar.
